Our Management Plan

Management Team

Our senior management staff along with other members of our management team have lead our organization from it’s entry into the facility service field in 1952 to a respected leader in our industry. Southern Management provides customized innovative service solutions allowing us to meet the needs of a variety of markets. Throughout our history, our commitment to providing top quality services at cost-effective pricing has allowed us to develop long-term partnerships with our clients.

Eddie W. Turner, Chairman

Mr. Turner was one of the founding partners and visionary leaders of Southern Management and has over 35 years of experience in the facility service field. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for OneSource Facility Services. Prior to becoming involved with Southern Management, Mr. Turner served as the Chief Executive Officer of Oxford Building Services based in Atlanta, Georgia.
     

W. Randall Steele, President

Mr. Steele has served as President of Southern Management since 1995. He is the second President of our firm succeeding Michael W. Goodson who served as president until his retirement in 1995. Prior to Mr. Steele’s appointment as President, he served as our Eastern Regional Vice President. Before joining Southern Management, he served as President of American Building Services, which was acquired by Southern Management. He has over 30 years experience in the facility service industry and is based at our Corporate Office in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Edris Pledger, Northwest Division Vice President

Ms. Pledger has over 35 years experience in the facility service industry. She has served in various positions within the company prior to her appointment as the Western Region Vice President in 1983. She is responsible for the management and direction of all operations in northern Alabama, southeastern Tennessee and north Georgia. Ms. Pledger is also a past recipient of the Michael W. Goodson Award for vision and leadership and has achieved numerous other awards for her success in managing the operations of the Western Region. She serves as a senior member of our Leadership Committee and is based at our Western Region Division Headquarters in Madison, Alabama.

Donald Toole, Southeast Division Vice President

Mr. Toole has over 15 years experience in the facility service industry. Before joining Southern Management, Mr. Toole served in various management roles for a national provider of outsourced facility services. He is a past recipient of the President’s Award for outstanding leadership and significant accomplishments as well as the Chairman’s Award for significant accomplishments. He serves as a member of our Leadership Committee. Mr. Toole is based in Pensacola, Florida at our Southern Region Division Headquarters covering southern Georgia, southern Alabama and the Florida panhandle.

John Stringfield, Vice President of Sales

Mr. Stringfield has over 25 years of service with Southern Management. He has served in various operational roles early in his career prior to joining our sales force where he now serves as Vice President. Mr. Stringfield is a past recipient of the Michael W. Goodson award for vision and leadership. He currently is a member of our Senior Leadership Committee. He is based out of our Pensacola Regional Office.

Joe Callahan, Vice President of Finance

Mr. Callahan joined Southern Management in 2002 following the retirement of Mr. Douglas P. Hammett. Prior to joining our company, Mr. Callahan served as Chief Financial Officer for a major carpet manufacturer and as Controller for a large international clothing manufacturer. Mr. Callahan is responsible for strategic and tactical management of budgeting, finance, treasury and other functions. He is member of our Leadership Committee and is based at our Corporate Office in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Clay Ellis, Vice President of Risk Management

Mr. Ellis joined Southern Management in 1995. He served as the Corporate Director of Safety and Training and Human Resource Manager prior to his appointment as Vice President of Risk Management. In this role, he is responsible for the overall management of our Safety and Training, Human Resource and Risk Management Departments. Mr. Ellis has a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Risk Management. Prior to joining Southern Management, Mr. Ellis had extensive experience in the public administration field in emergency services. He is a past recipient of the Michael W. Goodson Award for vision and leadership and the President’s Award for outstanding leadership and significant accomplishments. In 2002, he was named Georgia Firefighter of the Year by the Georgia Firefighters Association. He is a member of our Leadership Committee and is based at our Corporate Office in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Kenneth E. Thomas, Senior Regional Manager

Mr. Thomas joined Southern Management in 1972 where he served as District Manager then Regional Vice President. Mr. Thomas has been a recipient of the distinguished Michael W. Goodson Award for vision and leadership as well as the Chairman’s Award for significant accomplishments. He serves as chairperson on our Leadership Committee. Mr. Thomas is based in Panama City, Florida in close proximity to our Southern Region Division Headquarters.

Trey Brock, Regional Manager

Mr. Brock joined Southern Management’s team in 2003 bringing a vast amount of experience in all aspects of facility services. He attended Cumberland University as a student-athlete where he
studied management. Before his appointment to Regional Manager Trey was a key player in the growth of our Educational Division where he served as our District Manager for the Santa Rosa County School System, which at the time was our largest project. As the manger of the Southern Region, Trey covers 8 District Offices in Alabama , Georgia , and the Florida Panhandle. He is based in Pensacola at our Southern Region Headquarters.

Lawrence H. Cordell, Senior District Manager

Mr. Cordell has over 20 years of experience in the facility service industry. Prior to joining Southern Management, he was an executive in the food production industry. Prior to his appointment as Eastern Region Vice President, Mr. Cordell served as the District Manager in our Birmingham and Mobile, Alabama locations and in our Chattanooga, Tennessee district office. He also served as Director of Planning and Engineering. He is a past recipient of the President’s Award for outstanding leadership and significant accomplishments and serves as a senior member on our Leadership Committee. He is based in Columbia, South Carolina at our Eastern Region Headquarters.

Andrew Jordan, Senior District Manager

Mr. Jordan has over 20 years experience in the facility service industry. He began his career in 1987 in Atlanta, Georgia as an Operations Manager with a regional facility service provider. In 1990 Andrew joined ISS (now OneSource), serving as a Project Manager, then Area Manager in the Atlanta area. In 1994 Andrew transferred from OneSource into Southern Management as District Manager of Charleston, South Carolina. Within two years Andrew progressed to the Regional Sales Manager position of the Eastern Region until 2001 when he reentered operations once again as District Manager of Charleston, South Carolina. After a brief absence from the company, he rejoined Southern Management as Regional Manager of our Eastern Region. Based out of Charleston, South Carolina he is responsible for directing and overseeing all operations in South Carolina; Augusta, Athens and Savannah, Georgia; and Roanoke, Virginia.

Charles Denton, General Manager Supply Division

Mr. Denton joined Southern Management in 2004 where he served as Special Projects Manager. After his distinguished service he was promoted to the position of General Manager for our Supply Division. He is responsible for selection, purchasing and distribution of all materials the are utilized by our district operations.

John M. Lucas, Director of Safety and Training

Mr. Lucas joined Southern Management in 1996. He served as District Manager, Supply Division Manager and as member of our Engineering Team prior to his appointment at the Corporate Office as Director of Safety and Training. Prior to joining Southern Management, Mr. Lucas served as a major in the United States Army until his retirement in 1994. He is responsible for the development and implementation of all safety and training programs within Southern Management. He is a past recipient of the President’s Award for outstanding leadership and significant accomplishments. He is based at the Corporate Office in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Salvatore Golemi, Human Resource Director

Mr. Golemi is responsible for the organization, direction and implementation of Southern Management’s Human Resource initiatives. Prior to joining Southern Management, Mr. Golemi served as a senior level Human Resource manager in the nuclear industry in the northeastern United States . He is a past recipient of the President’s Award for outstanding leadership and significant accomplishments.

Michael B. Hill, Director of Technical Services and Engineering

Mr. Hill joined Southern Management in 1999. He previously served as the Supply Services Director prior to his appointment as Director of Technical Services and Engineering. Prior to joining Southern Management, Mr. Hill achieved over 29 years in the supply service industry. He is a member of our Leadership Committee and is based at the Corporate Office in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Cynthia Hewatt, Personnel Administration Officer

Ms. Hewatt joined Southern Management in 1996. She serves as Personnel Administration Officer and as Executive Assistant to the President. She previously served in the Finance and Accounting Department. Her responsibilities include the management of payroll administration, and personnel and policy adherence for our organization in addition to her executive duties. Ms. Hewatt has over 30 years experience in management and accounting. She has received numerous awards for her significant accomplishments and dedicated service to our company. She is a member of our Leadership Committee and is based at our Corporate Office in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Jade D. Greeson, Director of Information Technology

Mr. Greeson joined Southern Management in 1998. Prior to joining Southern Management, Mr. Greeson served as the Chief Technology Officer for CCS, Inc. In this role, he was responsible for the development of new technology platforms and assisting with the design of network systems. He is currently responsible for the development and implementation of new technology initiatives along with the design of new systems and infrastructure to allow our organization to deliver optimal customer-focused technology. Mr. Greeson is based in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
